Do you own land and have yet to build your home? Or are you still paying for your land and have yet to build your home?
Housing Authority has the perfect home loan package for you that allows you to build your dream home with attractive incentives.
First and foremost, is Government’s Housing Assistance Grant (HAG) that allows a land-only customer to tap into when they opt to take a home loan package from the Authority. In turn, the Authority will apply to the Ministry of Housing on behalf of the customer to be considered for the $10,000 grant to construct their dream home if it is their first home. Customers will only be eligible for the $10,000 IF they build their home.
As part of the home loan package, customers will be allocated under the Authority’s Toso Mai products which are targeted to customers earning $50,000 per annum or less as joint household income.
Under the ‘Toso Mai Dua’ home loan package if a customer or either one of the joint account holders earns less than $25,000 per annum – they qualify for the attractive interest rate of 3.95% for the first 12 months, then 4.95% for the next 48 months, before reverting to the 7.5% variable interest rate. However the joint account holders must not earn more than $50,000 combined income to be eligible for this particular home loan product. The ‘Toso Mai Dua’ is the only home loan package available in the market with a fixed interest rate for 5 years.
The ‘Toso Mai Rua’ package is targeted to customers earning $25,000 per annum and above but not exceeding $50,000 per annum. Under this home loan package an interest rate of 3.95% for the first 12 months is offered before the rate reverts to the 7.5% variable.
Another incentive offered is free standard Housing Authority house plans subject to customers opting to take up their home loan from the Authority.
In addition, customers who bought their piece of land after 1 January 2012 and have built their first home will also qualify to claim for VAT refund on a maximum loan outlay of $120,000 of combined land purchase and house construction subject to conditions laid down by the Fiji Revenue Customs Authority.
