The new Chairman of the Housing Authority and Public Rental Board, Mr Narendra Prasad and new Permanent Secretary for Housing, Mr Samuela Namosimalua took a tour of Housing Authority’s subdivisions in the Central Division last weekend.
They were accompanied by the Authority’s Board members Mr Mr Umarji Musa, Mrs Maraia Ubitau and Mr Petero Daurewa.
Mr Prasad and Mr Namosimalua were given a guided tour by the Authority’s Executive Management to the various subdivisions in progress like Wainibuku and Tacirua East.
The purpose of the tour was to see the progress and get more understanding of the projects, discuss issues on the ground and how to improve HA’s products and services in line with the Government mandate and Constitution.
Mr Prasad and Mr Namosimalua were given brief updates of each subdivision upon arrival before ending the half-day tour with a visit to the newly constructed PRB flats at Raiwai.
Mr Prasad and Mr Namosimalua are also expected to be touring the Authority’s subdivisions in the West and North as well later this month.
Authority Chief Executive Officer Alipate Naiorosui said HA has set a new Strategic Direction to focus on residential development projects complimented by Mortgage Financing to meet the huge demand from customers.
“The Authority under its three year Land Development Plan aims to develop about 13 major projects to produce approximately 3,200 lots. Under its new strategic direction and in order to accelerate the construction of new homes, HA will consider re-visiting the Design and Build programme with the construction of multi-storey units, detached homes and strata unit estates focused on the lower income families,” Mr Naiorosui said.
“This is consistent with the Authority’s newly revamped vision of ‘Helping Fijians Own Affordable Homes.
“We are also excited and confident to produce about 3,200 new residential lots and housing units from our projects at Tacirua East Stage 2, Wainibuku, Matavolivoli, Tavakubu, Nepani, Caubati, Savusavu, Sakoca, Covata, Legalega and Korovou and other subdivisions from 2014 to 2016.”
HA would be inviting both local and overseas companies to build model homes to showcase their products at the Tacirua East subdivision model village. This is to allow HA customers who have purchased land to choose what type of homes they would want to build on their newly purchased lots.
